I’ve been thinking what I should put in for the fellowship show. I’ve been all over the place this year with my work and haven’t been able to settle on one area of interest. In print I've been looking at microscope images and printing cell structures but then in my 3d work it's been a real mixture.
I feel my work starting to go off in a different direction and although I am nervous about it I think I'm going to go with it. I've come to this conclusion as I think development of your practice can only happen if you let go of what you know works and try new ways of working. I don't want my work to go stagnant.
I’ve decided to concentrate on my forest work.
The space at the Williamson is so great it cries out for installation work.
I’ve been working on an idea that I've developed it so that it’s made out of books instead of being just paper. I'm thinking of altered books, recycling and environmental ideas of the Forest.
So far I’ve been working on eight pieces but they are very time consuming. It’s very simple, I’ve been rolling paper to form the rings of a tree. The different colours of the book pages that are varied from age and sunlight form the rings.
