Went to the opening of the Liverpool Biennial last night. It was even better than the last one. I was especially excited to see Magdalena Abakanowicz’s ‘Embryology’ and it didn't disappoint. It was just 'more' of everything than I thought it would be. More fragile and yet more robust, more consuming, more of my senses being overwhelmed. I walked amongst them and felt almost engulfed, there was a dank hessian smell that filled my nostrils, you could feel the heaviness of them without holding them and the temptation to touch them was almost too much.
I studied Magdalenas work during my degree and she became one of the artists I talked about in my dissertation. I never thought I'd get to actually see her work in the flesh.
